Anxiety is a very common and normal emotion that people feel when they are diagnosed with a cardiovascular condition.
This anxiety, which causes your mind to jump from one "what if" to another, leads you to think about all kinds of catastrophes, most of which have
little chance of happening.
Anxiety can be the cause of a number of physical symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, palpitations, chest tightness, and dizziness. When anxiety
is more severe and sudden it can cause a so-called "panic attack." This can be very troubling, and its associated symptoms are sometimes difficult to
distinguish from more serious problems. If you think that anxiety is a problem for you, discuss this with your doctor. Anxiety is a common reaction to
having to deal with illness.
Treatment strategies involve counseling, relaxation methods and sometimes medication.
